Staffing shortages have led the Wyoming Dept of Corrections to move an undisclosed number of inmates from the State Penitentiary to a pair of county jails and to send 240 others to a prison in Mississippi.
The department says inmates transferred to the Sublette and Lincoln County Jails and the Tallahatchie Correctional Institute will stay there until enough staffing vacancies are filled to safely return them to the Penitentiary.
Their return is being described as being done “immediately” once staffing is adequate. The Corrections Department also says the out-of-state transports took place last week without incident.
