Steven Alexander Custer was born on April 8, 1990 in Rapid City, SD to Darlene and Steve Custer. He passed away on November 16, 2023 in Denver, CO with his mother and sisters by his side.
Alex was the apple of his daddy’s eye – best friends from the moment he was born: his mother’s pride and joy; and partner-in-crime to Christina. Together they always gave him a run for his money. As a big brother, he fiercely protected Cheyenne and Connor.
Alex was a brave and tough little boy, earning him the Lakota name “Eagle Boy.” Growing up, he loved spending time outside riding bicycles, motorcycles, snowboarding and playing football.
At the age of 20, Alex was in a life-changing motorcycle accident. He recovered and hopped back on his motorcycle within 6 months; he never let it hold him back. From this, Alex grew into a caring and loving young man, never taking a moment or memory for granted.
He never let anyone feel left out and was always there to defend anyone in need. He may have looked intimidating, but he had the kindest heart and the most wonderful hugs.
Alex was preceded in death by his father Steven Arthur Custer. After losing his father, Alex struggled personally but never let anyone know, always taking care of everyone around him first.
He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Edward Two Bulls and his paternal grandparents Nancy Swett and Charles Custer.
Alex is survived by his loving mother Darlene Custer; his sisters Christina (Mauro Buffa) Custer and Cheyenne (Dustin) Hull; his brother Connor Custer; nephew Roran Hull; grandmother Lovie Two Bulls; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his friends that became family.
Pallbearers will be his “brothers” – Sam Corbett, Trent Jungwirth, Roderick McRae, Clinton Fees, Marshal Haag, Jared Lind, Ryan Snow, and his uncle Billy Murray.
Honorary pallbearers will be Connor Custer, Mauro Buffa, Dustin Hull, Ernest Two Bulls, Donna Custer-Clemens & Family, Karen Tsoukalas & Family, Geody Vandewater, Samantha Bolka, Ryan Huss, Tasha & Tori Jungwirth, Nate Deziel, Tim Roman, Ethan LeBeau, Kirby & Susan Points At Him, Sean DeCory, Allen Bone Shirt, Adam Kohama, and All Friends & Relatives.
While we all will miss Steven “Alex” terribly, the family is requesting a private service and burial.
