Sylvester Ferrel Long Soldier “Wanbli Hoksila” was born on June 9, 1959 in Pine Ridge, SD to Clarence Long Soldier and Mabel Bullman. Sylvester made his journey to the Spirit World on Jan 5, 2024 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Sylvester is survived by his brother Daniel Long Soldier of Vermillion, SD; sister Germaine Long Soldier of Gordon, NE; grandson Ilan Long Soldier; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Sylvester was preceded in death by his parents Clarence Long Soldier and Mabel Bullman-Long Soldier; son Nigel Long Soldier; paternal grandparents Antoine Long Soldier and Bessie Bad Elk-Long Soldier; maternal grandparents Daniel Bullman and Sallie White Face-Bullman; sisters Thelma Long Soldier-Good Voice Elk, Laura Long Soldier, and Amy Long Soldier; and brothers Edwin “Turk” Long Soldier, Richard Long Soldier, Johnny Long Soldier, Harley Long Soldier, and Larry Long Soldier.
Pallbearers will be Ceta Luta Young Bear, Isiah Red Owl, Johnathan Long Soldier, Melvin Young Bear, Martin Long Soldier, Gabriel Long Soldier, Samantha Young Bear, and Zady Brown Bull.
