The Nebraska State Fair and 1868 Foundation are pleased to announce a change in the Nebraska Lottery Concert Series. Concert organizers weren’t sure the previously announced act, The Guess Who, could fulfill their engagement. As a result, The Little River Band has been booked to perform on Tuesday night, August 27 in the air-conditioned comfort of the Heartland Events Center. With millions of fans over a career that spans close to 50 years, The Little River Band is sure to bring back memories of the best time of our lives.
Hailing from Australia, The Little River Band hit the American stage with what the late Glen Frey of the Eagles described as “the best singing band in the world.” Throughout the 1970s and 80s, LRB had a long run of chart success with multi-platinum albums and chart toppers like “Reminiscing,” “Cool Change,” “Lonesome Loser,” “Happy Anniversary,” “The Night Owls,” “Take it Easy on Me,” “Help Is On The Way,” “We Two,” “Man On Your Mind,” “The Other Guy” and “It’s A Long Way There.” That’s just a short list of their 16 Billboard Hot 100 Hits. To date, The Little River Band has had album and CD sales topping 30 million.
“The Little River Band offers a classic rock option to the Nebraska Lottery Concert Series,” Nebraska State Fair executive director Jaime Parr said. “We know from last year’s Three Dog Night concert that our Tuesday attendance saw a nice increase and we expect to see the same this year. We invite fairgoers to take in the Gatlin Brothers/Lorrie Morgan concert on Monday and stay overnight for The Little River Band on $3 Tuesday.”
Tickets to see The Little River Band in concert will remain the same as previously announced. Simply present your ticket and you’ll be seated in the same ticket location. All tickets are reserved seats on a first come-first serve basis and include gate admission. Tickets can be purchased online at StateFair.org or at the Nebraska State Fair Box Office. Reserved seats range from $25 to $50 for Tom Dinsdale Automotive VIP seats, plus fees.
Those who prefer a ticket refund can contact the Nebraska State Fair Box Office by calling (308) 382-1620 or stopping by the Nebraska Building on or before June 21.
Jay Vavricek with Spirit in the Sky Productions said, “the success of the State Fair makes it possible to present first rate entertainment at an affordable price for all Nebraskans. With The Little River Band taking the stage on August 27, we anticipate tickets will sell fast, so we encourage everyone to get their best seats today.”
The Nebraska Lottery Series features seven days of high-quality national touring acts, including Christian stars Casting Crowns and Anne Wilson on Sunday, August 25; the Older Nebraskans Day concert featuring the Gatlin Brothers and Lorrie Morgan on Monday, August 26; country star Riley Green on Wednesday, August 28; Hispanic music legend Ramón Ayala y sus Bravos del Norte on Thursday, August 29; Red Dirt stars Turnpike Troubadours with special guests Shane Smith and the Saints on Friday, August 30; and the Saturday night, August 31, series-closing act, Yung Gravy with opening act Tayler Holder. Tickets for all shows are available at statefair.org.
With the theme, All Roads Lead to Fun, the 2024 Nebraska State Fair is August 23-September 2 at Fonner Park in Grand Island. The fair has drawn more than 4 million visitors to its home in Grand Island since 2010. More information about agricultural events and competitions, carnival entertainment, and other musical performances is available at statefair.org.
