Funeral services for 67-year old Theresa Whirlwind Horse are Mon, Feb 27, 2023, at 1:00 at the Pass Creek Church of God in Allen, SD, with Pastor Tim Wardell officiating and traditional Lakota Services by Arthur Has No Horse Jr.
Burial is at the Whirlwind Horse Family Cemetery, Allen, SD
A one-night wake service starts Sunday, Feb 26, at 2:00 at the Allen CAP Office in Allen, SD.
Theresa M. Whirlwind Horse was born on September 28, 1955 to Levi and Ruby (Lamont) Whirlwind Horse in Pine Ridge, SD. Theresa made her journey to the Spirit World on February 14, 2023 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Theresa attended school through the 8th grade at Allen Day School and after her eighth grade graduation was an exchange student in Paris, France. In the summer months, she attended high school at Holy Rosary Mission, where she graduated.
Theresa attended Police Training in Bismarck, ND, and received her certificate. She also worked at American Horse for six years as a cook and served as a stand in enrollment committee member.
Theresa was a counselor at the Pass Creek District College Center for four years and was a community chairperson for the Allen Community. She was a very good community chairperson and made the right decisions.
Theresa was a very beautiful and kind person with a unique personality; she loved to bead, bake, cook, and can fruit. She was a very talented cook and a very independent person.
To all the young children, she was grandma; she always had treats for them and had something for everyone else – no one went away from her house hungry.
Theresa was the pillar to our district, she touched many lives in our district and she will be greatly missed.
Theresa is survived by her sister Mary (Albert) Jealous of Him; adopted sisters Carmen (Tony) Spotted Elk, Colene Bald Eagle, Susan Big Crow, and Phyllis Campbell; hunka sons Tim Wardell and Art Has No Horse, Jr.; hunka daughters Kim Wardell and Sherrie Has No Horse; and numerous nieces, nephews, & grandchildren.
Theresa was preceded in death by her daughters Asia Ryn and Autumn Dawn Salway; parents Levi and Ruby Whirlwind Horse; and her three brothers Wayne, Levi Willis Jr, and Arveal Whirlwind Horse.
Pallbearers will be Arthur Has No Horse Jr, Reno Richards Jr, Corey Whirlwind Horse, Duane Janis, Albert Whirlwind Horse, Mateo Whirlwind Horse, Paul Whirlwind Horse, and Anthony Buck Tallman.
