Sioux County fell in the opening round of the Panhandle Conference basketball tournament Tuesday, losing 47-25 to the Morrill Lions. The Lions used a huge third quarter to put the game away after leading 16-10 at halftime. Morrill drained 23 points in the third quarter, behind three treys by Wyler Fisher and eight points by Ashwin Pittman. The Lions capped the game with eight points, while the Warriors added 10 to the board in the final period.

Shane Gluth led Sioux County with 11 points, going seven of eight at the free throw line. William Skavdahl added seven points.

The Warriors will drop to the consolation bracket and will play Edgemont Friday at 12:15 at Chadron State College to try and advance to the game for fifth and sixth place. Sioux County won the first match-up between the two teams earlier this month.  Edgemont was sent to the consolation bracket by Hyannis in a 58-32 defeat.

The Warriors also fell in a tight contest against Creek Valley, coming up three points short in the 34-31 game on Jan. 9. Gluth led the Warriors with eight points, all in the second half.
