Funeral services for 61-year old Thomas “Scott” Conroy are Monday, Dec 18, 2023 at 9:00 at the Pine Ridge High School Gymnasium in Pine Ridge, SD, with the Rev JoAnn Conroy officiating.
Burial follows at 2:00 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD
A one-night wake service starts Sunday, Dec 17, at 2:00 at the Pine Ridge High School Gym with evening services at 7:00 followed by military roll call.

Thomas “Scott” Conroy was born on Nov 5th, 1962 to Tom and Ann Conroy in Valentine, NE. He made his journey to the Spirit World on Dec 11, 2023 at his home in Rapid City, SD.
Scott attended elementary and middle school in Pine Ridge and graduated from Pine Ridge High School in 1981. He came from a long line of warriors and in 1984 he decided to join the United States Marine Corps.
Scott’s first posting was in Okinawa, Japan, then in 1986, he received orders to Twentynine Palms, CA.
He earned many commendations during his time in service. He was Marine of the month for 1 months running and Marine of the quarter 4 times for his outstanding performance. He was also nominated by U-S Senator Tom Daschle to serve on the Honor Guard at the White House.
Scott was Honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1989 and soon joined the National Guard full-time. He was activated in Nov 1990 to serve in the Gulf War and fought bravely until he returned in June of 1991. He was deployed again in June of 2002, this time to Kuwait, and returned in Feb 2003.
All together, Scott served a total of 31 years and 8 months in the United States military. He retired at the rank of Sgt First Class/ E-7.
Scott always had a smile on his face and would light up the room with his laughter and sense of humor. He loved spending time and visiting with his children and grandchildren.
Thomas “Scott” is survived by his parents Thomas and Ann Conroy; his wife Michele Conroy; his daughters Rebecca Conroy, Jessica Conroy and Talona Gonzalez; his sons Cody Conroy and Aaron Kamarad; grandchildren Mason Red Leaf, Braddock Red Leaf, Dylan Red Leaf, Khloe Brown, Terry Brown, J’Reiton Roubideaux and Abel Gonzalez; sister LaFawn Conroy; brother Michael Conroy; aunt Joann Conroy; and uncle Chuck Conroy.
He was preceded in death by his sister Janine Louise Conroy; aunts Elma Conroy/ Valandra and Penny Janis/Conroy; grandparents Edward and Harriet Ross, Tom and Janette Conroy, Martin and Louise Shangreaux; and numerous cousins and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be James Red Cloud, Jeremy Ringing Shield, Steve Shangreau, Sam Shangreau, Brad Conroy, Wade Stebbins, Abel Gonzalez, and Bill White.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Pine Ridge Thorpes Class of ’81 Football Team, All Military Brothers & Sisters he served with, and All Relatives & Friends.
