Thursday Morning MVA in Chadron

Chadron’s first responders made an early morning call to West Highway 20 in front of McDonald’s around 8:30 Thursday morning.

According to Chadron Police Chief Rick Hickstein, it appeared the driver of a gray SUV pulled out from McDonald’s and was coincidentally struck by a westbound red pickup. Although there was airbag deployment, none of the parties were medically transported.

Hickstein says after a brief investigation of the scene, the driver of the SUV was issued a citation for failing to yield.

Law Enforcement was assisted on scene by units from the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department for medical assistance.

Chief Hickstein also had a DUI arrest Thursday evening. Hickstein says one of his officers performed a routine traffic stop for failing to signal, and after making contact with the motorist, Hickstein’s officer detected an odor that gave him reasonable suspicion that the motorist was under the influence.

After a field sobriety test was conducted, 59 year old Lawrence Brewer was arrested for DUI.
