Wyoming authorities say a Torrington man drowned Sunday in a lake near the Nebraska state line.
The body of 25-year-old Joey Eaton was recovered later that day from Packer Lake, located southeast of Huntley and 2 miles southwest of Lyman, NE. .
The Torrington Volunteer Fire Department posted on social media on Monday that it had dispatched its dive rescue team after receiving a call Eaton was missing in Parker Lake.
Units from the Goshen County Sheriff’s Office, Torrington Fire Water Rescue, Lyman Fire/EMS, and Wyoming Game and Fish all arrived on the scene a short time later with the Scottsbluff Fire Department and the AirLink helicopter also assisting in the search.
Eaton’s mother, Jody Eaton, put her own post on social media encouraging people to “Please keep your loved ones close and hold them tight. Thank you for all of your prayers as I go through the loss of my boy.”
In its post, the Torrington Volunteer Fire Department encouraged anyone planning to be on or around any bodies of water to use a life jacket.
