ALBERTS HAS RELEASED AN E-MAIL CONFIRMING HE IS TAKING THE TEXAS A&M JOB

Multiple media outlets say Nebraska Athletic Director Trev Alberts is leaving for Texas A&M, whose AD is going to fill the retirement vacancy at Ohio State

Alberts just signed a contract extension through 2031 last fall that doubled his salary to $1.7-million dollars with another boost to $2.1-million in 2026. He will pay Nebraska a $4.12-M buyout,

Alberts is one of the most decorated players in Husker football history – a unanimous All-American, winner of the Butkus Award as the top college linebacker, and the 5th pick in the 1994 draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Nebraska has retired his #34.

After a brief injury-plagued NFL career, Alberts was an analyst on ESPN’s college football desk from 2002-05.

He became the athletic director at UNO in 2009, then 2 years later cut football and a national champion wrestling program as part of the Mavericks move from NCAA DII to Division 1.

Alberts returned to his alma mater in Lincoln in 2021, making waves by firing head football coach Scott Frost during the 2022 season and hiring Matt Rhule as his successor.
