Halloween is Tuesday, but for the kids of all ages who can’t wait until then to go Trick or Treating – tonight from 5:-7:00 is the annual Chadron Kiwanis Trunk or Treat downtown.
Chadron Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Gabby Michna says 32 groups, businesses, and individuals had signed up by Tuesday morning to hand out candy from decorated car trunks, pickups, and vans – and she expects the final count to higher.
Downtown businesses have been encouraged to remain open during Trunk or Treat even though Main Street north of 3rd Street/Hwy 20 will be closed to vehicles starting earlier in the afternoon.
Michna wants to emphasize Trunk or Treat is a free-flowing event with no admission fee and no lines.
Michna says Trunk or Treat is once again paired with the Chadron City Employees Association’s annual Chili Cook Off at the Fire Hall.
Unfortunately, the arrival of winter weather has canceled or postponed at least 2 events this weekend – today’s Pet Parade downtown, the Fort Robinson Haunted Halloween tomorrow night, and Sunday afternoon’s Trick or Trails at Chadron State College.
Of the 3, only Trick or Trails, put on by the Northwest Nebraska Trails Association, has been rescheduled – pushed back a week to Sunday, Nov 5. The 3rd annual edition of the fun family event along the trails at the south end of the CSC campus in the Thompson Preserve near Briggs Ponds will run from 4-6:00 pm on the 5th.
