Loading

The Chadron Cardinals boys wrestling team competed for spots at the state tournament in Omaha during the Class C-3 district tournament at Summerland High School in Ewing. Two Cardinals battled through and made it to the state tournament as Quinn Bailey became a four time district champion by winning the 157 pound class to become a four time qualifier for the state tournament. Zane Cullers will join him in Omaha, finishing third in the 165 pound class to become a two-time state qualifier.

Four Cardinals fell one match short by falling in the consolation semifinals, otherwise known as the heartbreak round.  Colin McCoy at 106, Tayven Jenkins at 138, Braden Wright at 175 and Leo Golembiewski at 215 just missed out on competing at the state tournament. Carson Long at 132, Bricen Wright at 190, and Fletcher Stewart at 285 also competed for the Cardinals.

The boys state wrestling tournament will start on Thursday and go through the Saturday at the CHI Health Center in downtown Omaha.
