.      The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a pair of single-vehicle accidents Wednesday in the Black Hills, one near Edgemont and the other near Keystone, claimed 3 lives about 6 hours apart..

Names have not yet been released in either accident.

The Highway Patrol says preliminary crash information indicates two men were in a pickup headed southbound on Hwy. 471 about 3 miles south of Edgemont when they ran off the roadway shortly before 8:00 am.

The driver got the pickup back into the southbound lane, but in the process over-corrected and the pickup went off the pavement again, then down an embankment while rolling several times.

Neither the 55-year old driver or 64-year old passenger was wearing a seatbelt and both sustained fatal injuries.

Then about 1:45, an 87-year-old man was killed on Hwy 244 about 3 miles west of Keystone when his eastbound SUV went into the south ditch, hit an embankment, and rolled – coming to rest on its top. The man was alone and died at the scene.
