Loading

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says one person died just before 11:00 yesterday morning when a 14-year old driver hit another vehicle on a street about 5 miles north of Rapid City.

Names of the three people involved have not yet been released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information indicates that the SUV driven by the teenage girl was southbound near an intersection when it crossed the center line and collided with a northbound sports car.

The 50-year-old male driver of the sports car, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was later pronounced dead at a Rapid City hospital.

Neither the 14-year-old nor her 50-year-old female passenger were injured. Both were wearing seatbelts.
