USFS Burning Slash Piles South Of Chadron

The Nebraska National Forests And Grasslands is taking advantage of the weather to burn slash piles today about 5 miles south of Chadron.

Pine Ridge District Ranger Tim Buskirk says the piles of limbs and other timber debris, mostly from thinning operations, are extremely dry so the cold and snow weather won’t impede the piles burning but will help guard against any of the fires spreading.

Buskirk says smoke may be visible from the burning piles, but emphasizes crews will be checking on each one.
