VA Black Hills Accreditation Renewed

Loading

The VA Black Hills Health Care System has been re-accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, a nonprofit organization that accredits over 20,000 healthcare organizations and programs in the country.

The Joint Commission also awarded VA Black Hills its Gold Seal of Approval,®described as a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.

Director Lisa Curnes says VA Black Hills is “extremely proud of our continued accreditation by The Joint Commission. It affirms the quality of care we provide to Veterans every day and the dedication of the VA Black Hills Team to honor our commitment to Veterans.”

Curnes also says “Accreditation through the Joint Commission highlights our High-Reliability Organization goals of Zero Harm and a culture of excellence in health care.”

The accreditation process included a rigorous, unannounced onsite review from Sept 20-23rd during which a team from the Joint Commission reviewers evaluated VA Black Hills compliance with health care standards.

The review spanned several areas including emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, medication management, and behavioral health.

The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts, and patients to help health care organizations measure, assess and improve performance.
