Vernon Charles Stands “Mastincala Ska” was born on September 15, 1946 in Igloo, SD to Daniel Stands, Sr. and Monica (Irving) Stands. Vernon made his journey to the Spirit World on October 3, 2023 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Vernon is survived by his daughters, Lisa Stands and Theresa Murley; son, Brandon Tyon; uncle, Seth Irving; and numerous nieces, nephews, & grandchildren.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel & Monica Stands; brothers, Calvin “Butch” Stands, Daniel Stands, Jr., Francis “Sonny” Iriving, Duane “Punky” Stands, and Wendy Irving; sisters, Stella Irving and Illa Red Owl-Stands; son, Charles Stands; and daughters, Michelle Stands and Sissy Stands.
Pallbearers will be Rich Cuny, Charlie Cuny, Jeremiah Richards, Abraham Romero-Perez, Kellen Janis, Talan Red Paint, Lonnie Martinez, Clint Martinez, Bryan Brewer, and Jonathan Red Owl.
