Violet Rose Yankton was born on July 29, 1983 in Pine Ridge, SD to Richard Yankton Sr and Verbena Black Tail Deer. Violet made her journey to the Spirit World on Feb 29, 2024 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Violet is survived by her brothers Robert James Spotted Bear, John Little Moon, Alvin Little Moon, Martin Black Tail Deer Jr, Steven Black Tail Deer, Richard Yankton Jr, Frank Black Tail Deer, and Brian Black Tail Deer; sisters Carla Sleeping Bear and Karen Potter; grandchildren Sebastian, River, Caleb, Felix, Rome, and John Mosby; nieces Crystal Clifford, Tiara Clifford, Katherine Red Cloud, Gloria Red Cloud, Baby Lauren Bissonette, Mercedes Bissonette, Sheila Little Moon, Ida John White Dress, and Sierra Knight; nephews Loren Clifford Jr, Henry Clifford, Thomas Clifford, John Paul Clifford, PJ Little Moon, Martayen Bissonette, and Ashton Knight; aunts Harriet Brown and Paula Brown; and uncles Pete Brown and Mike Little Boy.
Violet was preceded in death by her adopted mother Flora Looks Twice/Black Tail Deer; father Richard Yankton Sr; mother Verbena Black Tail Deer; grandparents Andrew and Flora Black Tail Deer; hunka father Martin Black Tail Deer Sr; brothers Calvin Little Moon Sr, Fred Brown Bull, James Black Tail Deer, Alton Black Tail Deer, and Jeffrey Bordeaux; and sister Cheyenne Yankton.
Honorary pallbearers will be special auntie moms Audrey Jumping Eagle, Mona Brown, Paula Brown, Kathy Dillon, and Reva Mesteth, and uncles, Phillip Jumping Eagle Sr, Dale Red Boy, and All Friends & Relatives.
