Volleyball Hosting Mountaineers And Skyhawks This Weekend

After playing out of conference opponent Wayne State, Tuesday, the Chadron State College volleyball team will resume RMAC play when they host Western Colorado and Fort Lewis this weekend.

Friday’s match begins at 6 p.m., while first serve Saturday is at 4 p.m.

CSC enters the weekend with a 5-5 overall record and a 1-1 mark in conference play. Their conference victory occurred against Colorado Mines before falling to MSU-Denver.

Friday’s opponent, the Mountaineers of Western Colorado, are 2-8 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Last weekend, #12 ranked Colorado Mesa swept the Mountaineers and Westminster won in five sets.

Offensively, Maggie Olson leads Western Colorado with 102 kills, an average of 2.91 per set. Seyun Park is second on the team with 89 kills and an average of 2.41 a set. Olson’s hitting percentage is .102, while Park is precise at the net, hitting .412.

Nur Turkmenoglu does the setting duties for the Mountaineers, having 307 assists, an average of 8.3 a set.

Defensively, Elizabeth Rupprecht leads the team with 124 digs while Olson has 98. Rupprecht averages 3.35 digs per set.

Park leads the team with 16 blocks while Olive Rolseth is second with 15.

The Skyhawks of Fort Lewis are 4-6 overall and 1-1 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. They defeated Westminster in four sets but fell to Colorado Mesa in three last weekend.

Alexis Hobie leads the team with 94 kills, an average of 3.36 a set while hitting .169. JJ Curry is next on the stat sheet for the Skyhawks with 74 kills.

Natalia Lambos averages 9.57 assists per set after recording 335 so far this season for Fort Lewis.

Three players have over 80 digs this season for the Skyhawks. Sarah Wilkey leads the trio with 127, Alina Nunez has 84 and Chloe Ruhls has 80.

Three different layers have atleast 20 blocks on the season. Jordyn Romano has 22 blocks, while Lauren Shea and Logan Spragg have 21 and 20, respectively.

Saturday, between the first and second sets, members of the Chadron State Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2023 will be recognized.
