The Bayard Tigers swept Sioux County in the Warriors first home volleyball game Tuesday.

The Tigers made quick work of the Warriors in straight sets of 25-12, 25-6, 25-13. Sioux County led early in the first set, 4-3, and didn’t trail the Tigers by more than three until Bayard landed four consecutive kills to stretch their lead to 12-7. Five more kills and an ace serve lifted the Tigers to the opening set victory. Sierra Eastman had one kill and an ace in the set for Sioux County, and Kaylee Juhnke also had a kill.

Bayard used the momentum to hold the Warriors to six points in the second set, including three from Tiger errors. Juhnke landed a kill and put up a block for the Warriors, and Becca Reece added a kill. Bayard had nine kills in the set, two aces and a block.

The Tigers opened up a 3-0 lead in the final set on three ace serves. The Warriors’ Britney Klein landed a free ball kill to make it 3-1 before Bayard answered with three consecutive kills and another ace serve. Following a Sioux County attacking error, the Tigers added two more kills and another ace to make it 11-1. Despite kills by Juhnke and Ella Hyer, the Warriors still trailed 17-6 late. Juhnke and Eastman combined for a block, and Klein and Hyer each added a kill but Sioux County closed out the set and match with a 13-25 loss.   Â
