The Sioux County Warriors rolled over the Creek Valley Storm in their season opener Friday, posting an impressive 78-0 shutout at home.

Sioux County scored on 11 of its 12 possessions as they let time run out on their final possession. The game belonged to the Warriors early as they raced out to a 29-0 lead in the first quarter. Cy Hughson scored the first touchdown of the year for Sioux County less than two minutes after the game began. William Skavdahl scrambled in next for the Warriors after catching a 54-yard pass, and Jack Hunter got in the action with a 16-yard to make it 23-0 with three minutes left in the quarter. Logan Monroe recovered a Storm fumble on the two-yard line seconds later, allowing Hunter to score again as the period ended.

The Warriors wasted no time in the second quarter finding the end zone again, with Skavdahl catching a 14-yard pass from Hughson to make it 35-0. Skavdahl followed that up with an interception on a Creek Valley fourth-down attempt. The play set Hunter up to make a 55-yard touchdown run. The Warriors continued their defensive stand when Jadon Skavdahl recovered his own kickoff at the 13-yard line and then scrambled in for a score from seven yards out. Jesse Dunn made a back-to-back sack and tackle for a loss on the next Storm possession to pin Creek Valley and put the Warriors in possession for another 55-yard touchdown run by Hunter to take a 55-0 lead into halftime.

Sioux County’s only score in the third quarter came on a 37-yard run by Cy Hughson, and Baxter Reece and Dunn added two more goals in the fourth.
