With no subs for the second consecutive game, the Sioux County Warriors earned a sweep over Crawford Friday, to get the double-header Homecoming win after the school’s football team also won.
The Warriors won the contest 25-18, 25-16, 25-17.
Sioux County went up 5-1 early in the first set on several Ram errors and two ace serves by Britney Klein. Crawford was able to pull within two points twice before the Warriors extended their lead to 13-8 on consecutive kills by Klein and Sierra Eastman. The Rams hung on to make it 16-14, but Sioux County pulled away again with kills by Klein, Victoria Turbiville and Eastman down the stretch.
The Warriors opened the second set on a 6-1 run that included two ace serves and a kill by Eastman and a kill by Becca Reece. Eastman added two more kills, and Kaylee Juhnke terminated on one to put the Warriors ahead 13-8. In the same stretch of play, Peyton Osmotherly and Brynley Erickson hammered out kills from Crawford’s side of the net. Three consecutive plays saw the teams sending the ball down, as Osmotherly landed another kill for the Rams followed by back-to-back Warrior kills by Eastman and Reece. Whitlee Rudloff served up an ace for the Rams to make it 15-12. Sioux County closed out the set with kills by Juhnke and Eastman.
Crawford blocked Eastman on the opening point of the final set, but she answered with back-to-back kills to make it 2-1. The Rams capitalized on several Sioux County errors and three ace serves by Rudloff to take a 6-3 lead, and Osmotherly added a kill for one more point before the Warriors started their come back. Sioux County used three kills and two aces to tie the set at 10. Crawford inched ahead again before Ella Hyer tied it at 12 with a kill. The Warriors edged ahead 14-13 on a Hyer ace and rolled to an 18-13 advantage with another ace by Hyer and kills by Juhnke and Eastman. Reece, Eastman and Hyer all added kills in the final points to secure the victory.
