The Sioux County Warriors won their home volleyball opener against Banner County Friday 3-0.
The Warriors raced out to a 14-2 lead in the opening set and never looked back, clinching the win 25-6. The set saw Becca Reece hammer out two kills and an ace serve, and Kaylee Juhnke came up with two big blocks and a kill for the Warriors. Ella Hyer and Sierra Eastman each added a kill, and Eastman and Jaime Turbivlle put down an ace serve each.
Banner County started the second set blocking Reece but their advantage didn’t last long. Reece completed two kills, Turbiville added one and Eastman contributed an ace to make it 8-2 for the Warriors. Juhnke came up with a block and several forced errors continued Sioux County’s advantage to make it 13-6. Hyer added a kill and ace, followed quickly by an Eastman kill and a Juhnke ace to put the Warriors up 20-9. Britney Klein managed a kill, and Eastman closed out the set with an ace and the 25-11 win.
Klein opened the final set of the sweep with two ace serves, and a Reece kill gave Sioux County a 5-1 lead. Klein added a third ace and three kills in the final set, which the Warriors took 25-13. Eastman nailed two kills in the set, while Juhnke landed two ace serves, and Hyer added one ace.
Sioux County is now 4-2 after an additional win over Guernsey-Sunrise last week. The Warriors took that game 3-1. Sioux County won the first set 25-21 before dropping the second set 11-25. The Warriors clinched the match with victories in the next two sets 25-20, 25-19.
