Clinch performances at the free throw line in the fourth quarter lifted the Sioux County Warriors over Edgemont Saturday 44-37.
The Warriors led early, going up 13-9 after the first quarter, but the Moguls stormed back in the second with a 15-7 run to take a 24-20 lead into the break. Sioux County’s shooting went cold in the second, as the Warriors only found points at the free throw line. Edgemont sent the Warriors to the line 14 times in the second period, where they shot 50%.
The teams traded buckets in the third, with Sioux County getting a 9-5 edge to knot the score at 29 as the final period began. The Warriors netted 15 points in the last eight minutes and held the Moguls to eight points. Sioux County led 38-37 with just over a minute remaining. As Edgemont tried to turn the scoreboard in their favor, William Skavdahl netted two buckets, and he and Josh Perez went four-for-four from the line to put the game out of reach.
Skavdahl led Sioux County as the only Warrior in double digits with 17 points. Sebastian Morse had 12 for the Moguls, and Keaton Darrow added 11.
