According to KNEB News, Gering High School went into lockdown status briefly Thursday afternoon on a report of a possible weapon on the campus.
According to a release from district officials, the building went into lockdown status around 12:55 p.m. for what was called a โpotential immediate safety threatโ, with School Resource Officers responding immediately.
A reported individual was detained by school and police officials, and a full search of the campus was conducted as the investigation proceeded, which extended the lockdown until it was lifted nearly an hour later.
No weapon was found on the campus, the investigation was turned over to the Gering Police Department, and school resumed with heightened safety protocols and supervision in place after the lockdown ended.
