The National Willa Cather Centerโs Red Cloud Opera House Gallery has recently installed its last exhibit of the year, which will run through January 25, 2025. Born in Red Cloud and raised in rural Webster County, Karen is a graduate of Bladen High School. With this exhibit, she recreates Webster County memories based on family photographs and local buildings, rendered in her distinctive impressionistic style and vibrant color palette.
Karen works across mediums, has taught art classes and workshops throughout Nebraska, and frequently judges art competitions. She is past president of the Association of Nebraska Art Clubs (ANAC). She belongs to the Fremont Area Art Association and is a past president of that organization. Karenโs work is currently being shown at the Noyes Art Gallery in Lincoln where she is a co-op member.

The Red Cloud Opera House
Built in 1885 and fully restored in 2003, the Red Cloud Opera House figured prominently in the life of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Willa Cather. A visit to the Opera House transports patrons back in time to the 1880s, when Cather appeared on stage and attended traveling productions. The National Willa Cather Centerโs programming at the Opera House is made possible with support from the Nebraska Arts Council and Nebraska Cultural Endowment. As a museum and arts center, the Center works to enrich lives by advancing Catherโs legacy through education, preservation, and the arts. Live productions and visual art exhibits take place year-round.
