Crawford’s Kolby Welling and Hay Springs’ Jacob Wesley were the only area wrestlers to survive the D-4 district meet in Bridgeport on Saturday.
Welling is making his 3rd appearance at state after capturing his 2nd straight district championship. He took down all four of his opponents this weekend at 182-lbs, including the title match, by pin.
Jacobs grabbed a win in the consolation semifinals before falling in the 3rd place match at 132-lbs. It’ll be the first appearance for Jacobs, a Junior, who fell a win short of state last season.
Maxwell snuck past Mullen by a single point for the team championship 121-120.
