Graveside committal services for 64-year old Wendy Ann (Vodicka) Etuk are Friday, Sept 8, 2023, at 11:00 at the Rushville Cemetery in Rushville, NE.
A memorial has been set up to benefit the C.A.R.E. cancer support program in Sheridan County.
Wendy Ann (Vodicka) Etuk, 64, was born on January 2, 1959, in Gordon, NE. She went to her heavenly home on August 24, 2023, after a short battle with cancer.
Wendy was very much a farm girl, loving all aspects of farm life. She was an excellent trumpet player and was active in the Green Valley 4-H club. She attended elementary school in Rushville and graduated from Rushville High School in 1977, then went on to further her education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
It was at UNL that Wendy met Effiok ‘‘Ben” Etuk. Wendy and Ben were married in Council Bluffs, IA, on October 17, 1977 and together they had two sons, Benjamin Edward and Jonathon Effiok.
Wendy was preceded in death by her grandparents Tommy and Marie McKinnon and Ed and Jennie Vodicka.
Wendy is survived by her husband Effiok “Ben” Etuk of Hot Springs, SD; her parents Edward and Glenna Vodicka of Rushville; brother Joe (Elizabeth) Vodicka of St. Ong3, SD; sister Jan (Greg) Niemack of Loveland, CO; sons Benjamin (Louise) Etuk of Santa Fe, NM, and Jonathon Etuk of Espanola, NM.
She is also survived by six grandchildren – Ashley, Emma, Sidney, Benny, Jonus, and Abby as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
