William “Bill” Abbott, Jr., age 48, of Dalton, NE passed away at home on October 17, 2024.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. in Dalton, NE at the Leyton High School Gym. Inurnment will follow at the Dalton Cemetery in Dalton, NE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations sent to them to be designated at a later date. Services will be livestreamed on the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel Facebook page and recorded for later viewing on our website. Cremation has taken place.

Born on April 13, 1976, in Holdrege, NE, Bill was a devoted husband, proud father, and a friend to many, always treating those around him like family.
Bill attended Hay Springs High School, graduating in 1994. On July 31, 1999 Bill married the love of his life Angel Kearns, to this union 3 children Brenton, Peyton and Gracyn.
Bill dedicated his career to the trucking industry, having worked with Huckfeldt Trucking, Central Illinois Carriers, and Wynne Transport, before establishing Abbott Trucking Inc. in 2006. He served as an EMT Captain with the Dalton Volunteer Fire Department and was an active member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Dalton Village Board.
Bill is survived by his wife, Angel (Kearns) Abbott; sons Brenton and Peyton Abbott; daughter Gracyn Abbott; father-in-law and mother-in-law Lloyd and Sharon Kearns; sisters-in-law Lorie Greenman, Amber (Bill) Sterkel, Carie (Lee) Sterkel, Tonie (Cody) Hooper, and Mindie (Mike) Starke; uncle Rick (Leeann) Westlake; special aunt Marion Gasseling; special cousins Denise (Gary) Wieser, Jerry (Brenda) Gasseling, Todd (Tammy) Gasseling, and Justin (Beth) Gasseling; parents Jim and Sandi Abbott; sister Holly (TJ) Scherbarth; brother Riley (Katie) Abbott; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, Adrian Gasseling, his aunt and uncle Bob and Marie Golightly, and his beloved grandparents: Harold and Donna Westlake, Orville and Norabelle Abbott, Lester and Geraldine Bruns, and Paul and Doris Kearns.
A man of many passions, Bill loved attending his children’s sporting events, riding motorcycles, and driving school buses. He treasured family outings at the lake with his “camping framily,” creating lasting memories. Bill Abbott was a beacon of love and friendship, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.
