William George Swimmer was born on June 24, 1933 at home near Potato Creek, SD to Thomas and Lucinda (Starr) Swimmer. William made his journey to the Spirit World on July 29, 2024 at the Oglala Sioux Lakota Nursing Home in White Clay, NE.
William is survived by his daughter, Georgette Swimmer; grandchildren, Lyle Swimmer, Billie Jo Swimmer, Rosie Steele, Angel Steele, Danny Flores, Raelynn Flores, Maxine Pleasant, Stacee (Pleasant) Sharp, Tatianna Pleasant, Jamiciah Migia, Leonard Sharp, and Adrienne L. Sharp; nephew, John Haas; and niece, Cecelia Haas.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lucinda (Starr) Swimmer; brothers, Phillip Swimmer, Lawrence Swimmer, and Charles Swimmer; sisters, Lydia Red Kettle-Haas and Cecelia Swimmer.
Pallbearers will be announced
Honorary pallbearers will be the Oglala Sioux Lakota Nursing Home Staff and Residents, and all friends and family.
Visitation services for William George Swimmer will be held from 1 to 3 on Tuesday August 6, at the Sioux Funeral Home in Pine Ridge, SD with Mother Michelle Dayton officiating.
Burial is at the St. Timothy’s Episcopal Cemetery in Potato Creek, SD.
