Wilma Kay Elder was born in Detroit, MI, to Wilbur and Frances (Tatum) Brockman on June 3, 1941, and passed away at home on May 25, 2022, just 9 days shy of her 81st birthday.

After graduating from high school, Kay and her family moved to Phoenix, AX, where she was employed by Kresge’s Department Store.

While in Phoenix, she met a handsome young airman stationed at Luke Air Force Base named Bob Elder and on July 15, 1966, they were married. Kay and Bob were soon joined by daughter Christy and a couple of years later by son Bob.

Not long after their son’s birth, Kay and Bob moved their new family to Durango, CO, then Hemingford, NE, and finally to Spring Lake Ranch south of Gordon.

Gordon became their home and Kay worked as a librarian assistant for some years before joining Gordon Memorial Hospital in the home health care department – working there until she retired.

Kay loved gardening in her spare time. You could find her many evenings tending to her flower garden on the back patio. Her favorite flower was the petunia, and several could always be found in pots on the front porch.

Later in life, Kay enjoyed watching football, especially the Huskers! Any chance she got to talk Husker football with someone was always cherished.

Kay was also interested in history and genealogy, but most of all she loved watching all four of her grandsons growing up.

She was preceded in death by her parents Wilbur and Fran Brockman and her brother Jim Brockman.

Kay is survived by her husband Bob, daughter Christy (Rick) of Rushville, NE, son Bob (Laurie) of Ulysses, NE, grandsons Curtis of Gordon, Wyatt (Jade) of Seward, NE, Morgan (Addy) of Lincoln, NE and Cameron of Rushville, sister Linda and brother Gary, both of Phoenix, AZ, cousin Joyce of Greensboro, NC, sister-in-law Mary Jo (Ray) of Ft Collins, CO, niece Shaun (Rob) of Aurora, CO, and nephew Steve of Ft Collins, CO.

Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home of Gordon is in charge of arrangements for Kay Elder.
