The local Volunteer Fire Department was called into action Thursday evening to knock down a house fire on the 500 block of Morehead Street. First responders were notified of an active structure fire shortly before 5 o’clock in the evening.
Chadron Fire Chief Branden Martens commends his crew and the Chadron Police Department for their rapid response. Martens praised the PD for helping all of the occupants out of the structure and his rescue crew for their quick medical intervention.
Martens stated that Red Cross came in to assist the immediate needs of the occupants, and all units went home safe around 9 o’clock.
According to Chief Martens, the house appears to be a total loss, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Investigation Office.
