WNCC Board Names Finalists In Presidential Search

    The Board of Governors for Western Nebraska Community College has named 3 finalists to be the school’s next president.

The names had been recommended by a Presidential Search Advisory Committee from among 9 semifinalists.

    The finalists are Dr Samuel (Todd) Brand, chief academic officer at Ashland Community & Technical College in Tennessee; Greg Dart, chief campus administrator at Utah State University Eastern; and Dr George McNulty, president at Gogebic Community College in northwest Michigan.

       Each finalist will have a series of interviews in Scottsbluff with the board, WNCC faculty and staff, and community leaders. They will also have Meet-and-Greets at the WNCC campuses in Sidney and Alliance. 

    The Scottsbluff campus open forums will all be in the Harms Center and run from 4:30-5:30 with McNulty on Monday, April 3rd, Dart on Wed, April 3rd, and Brand on Thurs, April 13.

The forums will also be streamed with a link on the WNCC website.

    The Meet-and-Greets at the Alliance and Sidney campuses will be the day after each candidate’s open forum. All will run from 9-10:00 in Alliance and 2-3:00 in Sidey.

Greg Dart

     After all three finalists have interviewed with the Board and visited WNCC campuses, the board will announce their selection at a special session on April 19.

      Prior to Ashland Community College, Brand taught and was an administrator at at Meridian Community College in Mississippi from 2006-2019.

      Dart is completing the dissertation for his doctorate in education at Northeastern.

He’s been at Utah State-East since 2012, the last 5 as chief campus administrator, and held similar positions at Zane State College in Ohio and Snow College in Utah.

George McNulty

    McNulty has been the president of Gogebic since 2019 following 6 years as a vice president at Colby CC in Kansas. He also served the U-S Arm from 1988-96 with 3 years on active duty.

     McNulty has 2 associate’s degrees from Feather River College while Dart has one from Snow College.

      WNCC has been without a permanent president since the unexpected resignation of Dr Carmen Simone in June 2021.

Former Lamar Community College President Dr John Marrin, who spent 23 years at WNCC as a professor and administrator, has been serving as Interim President since then.
