The Western Nebraska Community College Board of Governors has picked a consulting firm to lead the search for the school’s next president.
The Pauly Group began in 1990 as the first search firm solely focused on community and technical colleges.
WNCC Board Chair Lynne Klemke says only two firms, The Pauly Group and Academic Search, submitted proposals and that both had very good selling points that reassured the board about the quality of candidates WNCC can expect.
Klemke says The Pauly Group was picked primarily for 2 reasons: its bid was lower and the firm seemed to have more networking connections.
She also said the board held a special meeting yesterday to make the choice because it needed to act now so that the search process continues to move forward and remains on schedule.
Klemke says the WNCC board also started discussions on how stakeholders will be selected to serve on the Search Advisory Committee..
WNCC has been without a permanent president since June of last year while Dr Carmen Simone unexpectedly resigned.
Former Lamar Community College President Dr John Marrin, who spent 23 years as a professor and administrator at WNCC, was named Interim President a short time later and agreed to serve until the new permanent president is hired.
