Work will begin on I-80, near Ogallala

Weather permitting, work will begin July 22 on I-80, from reference post 125.64 to reference post 132.89, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

W.W. Clyde & Co. of Englewood, Colo. is the contractor for the Interstate 80 (I-80) reconstruction project from Ogallala to Roscoe. Work includes new concrete pavement, culvert extensions, grading, seeding, lighting, guardrail and rest area concrete pavement. Traffic will be maintained with lane closures and a 12-foot width restriction will be in effect. Anticipated completion is Fall 2026.

Paulsen, Inc. of Cozad is the contractor for the Ogallala Westbound Rest Area project. Work includes a new rest area building, car and expanded truck parking, landscaping, and lighting. The existing rest area will close mid-July 2024. Anticipated completion is Spring 2026.

The purpose of these projects is to preserve the transportation asset, improve the reliability of the transportation system and perpetuate the mobility of the traveling public.

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.
