Zone Change For Apartment Building Goes Before Chadron Planners

Mike Works

A Lincoln developer makes his pitch to the Chadron Planning Commission tonight to rezone 7 lots on the south side of 10th St across from Wilson Park to allow construction of a 4-story, 78-unit apartment building.

The project would be the largest apartment complex in Chadron and the second-tallest building after the Chadron State College High Rise Dormitory.

REV Development owner Mike Works got a favorable response to the project when he unveiled it at an information meeting he held earlier this month, but declined to release information on financing until the proposal gets city approval.

Tonight’s Planning Commission session is the first step in the approval process. If the commission approves the rezoning, the recommendation would go to the city council for final approval.

If the council agrees, REV could submit the plat and other paperwork needed to seek a building permit.

Tonight’s Chadron Planning Commission meeting begins at 5:00 in the city council chambers at City Hall.

Works, whose company built and runs the Holiday Inn Express in Chadron, plans to appear before the planning commission himself.
