Interim U-S Attorney Named For South Dakota

     Federal court officials have appointed an interim U-S Attorney for South Dakota.

Alison Ramsdell will serve until the position is filled by a presidential nominee. She succeeds Dennis Holmes, who announced his retirement last week.

     Ramsdell joined the U-S Attorney’soffice in 2014 and has led its civil rights division since 2016. 

       She calls it “a profound honor” to serve as U-S Attorney and is “deeply grateful to be doing the work alongside such exceptional colleagues.

     Ramsdell received her bachelor’s degree from Valparaiso University in Indiana and her law degree from the University of Iowa.

     After law school, she clerked for U-S District Judge Karen Schreier in South Dakota and served as the pro se law clerk for the federal district court.  She lives in Flandreau with her husband and two sons.
