At approximately 2:00 PM on Thursday, 10 October, 2024 Officers responded to Safeway, located at 230 Morehead Street for a shoplifting. Officers reviewed video footage as part of the investigation and identified the suspect as Ronni Harvey a 31-year-old female.
Sgt. Cloyd reviewed the video at Safeway and observed Harvey taking a bottle of Fireball Whiskey from the shelf and placing it in her pants and walking out of the store.
Officers searched the area and multiple residences in an attempt to locate Harvey but were unsuccessful in finding her.
Later, at approximately 12:48 PM, on Friday, 11 October, 2024 Officers responded to a tip that Harvey was at a residence in Chadron. Sgt. Young and Officer Cafferty were able to make contact with Harvey at that time and arrested her on a Dawes County Warrant, as well as adding fresh charges for Shoplifting less than $500.
Harvey has had multiple convictions for shoplifting making this arrest a Class IV Felony. Harvey also had multiple warrants out of Sheridan County which were added to her arrest.
Harvey was jailed at the Dawes County Jail without bond.
