Funeral services for 40-year old Terry Thompson are Monday, October 25, 2021 at 11:00 at the White Butterfly residence, Unit 1244 Chadron Jct. Road near Oglala, SD, with traditional Lakota services by Mr Vic Camp
Burial is at St Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Rockyford, SD.
A two-night wake service starts Saturday morning, October 23, at 11:30 also at the White Butterfly residence near Oglala.
Terry Leray Thompson “Hoksila Wambli” was born on October 2, 1981 in Pine Ridge, SD to Larry L. Thompson and Helen (Yellow Bear) Thompson. Terry made his journey to the Spirit World on October 13, 2021 in Rapid City, SD.
Terry is survived by his children, Trinity Cheyenne Thompson, Mato Akiel Najinyapi Thompson, and Dominic Alexander Thompson; siblings, Lorna, Jessica, Barry, Larry, Dollie, & Alena Thompson, All of Rapid City, SD, Tracy Thompson of Oglala, SD, and Virginia Thompson of Oklahoma; and 11 grandchildren.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Larry L. Thompson and Helen (Yellow Bear) Thompson; sister, Diane Rose Thompson; niece, Daysha Storm Mesteth; maternal granparents, Charlie & Edith Yellow Bear; paternal grandmother, Celeste Thompson-Peneaux; aunt, Serena Yellow Bear; and cousin, Tammy Jo Peneaux.
Pallbearers will be Mato Thompson, Dominic Thompson, Tommy Thompson, Jason West, Orlanda Thompson, Trayton O’John, Gordon O’John, and Damon Mesteth.
