A Mass of Christian Burial for 92-year old Donna Rae Hatch of Harrison, NE, will be Sat, Oct 29, at 10:00 at the Church of the Nativity in Harrison.

Visitation is Friday, October 28, from 5-7 pm at the Church of the Nativity with Rosary at 7:00.

Donna Rae Hatch was born on June 28, 1930, in Longmont, CO, to Edgar L. and Agnes R. (Kennedy) Peterson. She passed away peacefully, Monday, Oct 24, 2022, at Genoa Long Term Care in Genoa, NE.

An only child, she became a Nebraska when Edgar, Agnes, and Donna Rae moved to Amelia, Ne, in Holt County.

She attended county school and finished high school at Atkinson Public School. She then went on to college and received a Bachelor of Education from Wayne State College. Her first teaching assignment was at the Lexington Public Schools.

It was there she met a young farmer who would share her life. Donna Rae and Wilford N. Hatch were united in marriage on August 22, 1956, in Amelia, and they would enoy 35 years together until his untimely death in 1992.

After their honeymoon, Donna Rae started teaching in Colorado while Wilford attended college in Fort Collins. After Wilford graduated, she stopped teaching to stay home and raise their son, Edgar.

Five years later, their second child would arrive – Suzanne. As the children grew up, Donna Rae would work for the county clerk at election time.

She enjoyed this work and was known for her small and perfect penmanship. She was hired by the state and the county working with many wonderful people throughout the years. After many faithful years working at the courthouse, Donna Rae retired.

She enjoyed the coffee group at the Sioux Sundries and the Harrison House, and her many friends, especially Dorothy Wickersham and Irene Richey.

When Donna Rae was 84, her dementia had increased to the point she was admitted to Genoa LTC, in Genoa, NE, where she spend the last 8 years of her life.

Donna Rae was a member of the Church of the Nativity and the Rosary Altar Society while playing the organ at church for several years. She enjoyed reading, playing cards (pinochle and pitch), scratch tickets, Husker football and the Statler Bros.

She was preceded in death by her Loving Husband of 35 years Wilford N. Hatch, Grandson Augustine Louis Czarnick; Parents Edgar L. and Agnes R. Peterson; In-Laws Bennie L and Mabel Hatch; Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law Verl and Kathie Hatch; Sister-in-law Ruth Hatch; and Brothers-in-law Earl Ballard andJoe Glenn

She is survived by Son Edgar N Hatch of Harrison, Daughter Suzanne M (Shane) Czarnick of Genoa, NE; Grandson Zachariah (Shelby) Czarnick of Genoa; Great-Granddaughters Analeis Hatch Czarnick and Emma Lou Czarnick; Grandson Nicholas (fiance Chelsea) Czarnick of Genoa; Grandson Samuel Czarnick of Genoa; Granddaughter Mary (fiance Ryan) Czarnick of Genoa; Grandson Jacob Czarnick of Genoa; Brother-in-law Virgil Hatch of Alliance, NE; Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law Max and Carol Dreier of Sioux Falls, SD; Sister-in-law Dorothy Glenn of Lexington, NE; and many nieces and nephews.
