Chadron Police Chief Rick Hickstein says an incident last Saturday, Jan 21, in Memorial Park has spawned such a wide range of rumors by mouth and on social media that he’s breaking usual procedure and addressing an active investigation.
     Chief Hickstein says while there have been stories of a stabbing, abduction, or sexual assault, he will confirm only that officers responded to a call from a resident reporting an assault and there was no immediate or on-going threat to the community.
Hickstein says the investigation into the incident is continuing with several officers and an investigator working diligently to complete the investigation, adding that when it is complete, he will release any information he can. Â
    The chief adds that anyone with information or wishing to speak with an officer about the Saturday incident – or any other incident or situation – can do so by calling the Chadron Police Department at 308-432-0510. Â
