Funeral services for 42-year old Larry Thompson Jr are Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 10:00 at the Woyatan Lutheran Church in Rapid City
Burial follows at 11:30 at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City
A one-night wake service begins Tuesday, Sept 5, at 4:00 at the Woyatan Lutheran Church in Rapid City with evening services at 7:00.
Larry Leroy Thompson Jr was born on October 15, 1980 in Pine Ridge, SD to Larry L Thompson Sr and Helen (Yellow Bear) Thompson. Larry Jr made his journey to the Spirit World on August 27, 2023 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Larry was a kind and loving man who was adored by his nieces and nephews. He loved his two daughters and son; they were his world and he talked about them all the time. He also loved going for walks and exploring new places.
Larry was a jokester who loved making people laugh and he especially loved being around his grandchildren. Larry was a kind soul who loved helping others and always wanted to help his family whenever he could.
Larry is survived by his sisters Lorna Thompson & Family of Rapid City, SD; Tracy Thompson of Oglala, SD; Virginia Thompson & Family of OK; and Jessica Thompson & Family of Rapid City; brother Barry Thompson of Rapid City; daughters Kitana and Nevaeh Thompson of Sioux Falls; son Larry L Thompson III “Yamni” of Sioux Falls; and all his nieces and nephews that were very close to Larry and looked up to him as a father figure in their lives.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Larry L Thompson Sr and Helen (Yellow Bear) Thompson; sister Diane Rose Thompson; brother Terry L. Thompson; niece Daysha Storm Mesteth; maternal grandmother Edith Yellow Bear; and paternal grandmother Celeste Thompson-Peneaux.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Thompson, Orlando Thompson, Dave Colhoff, Alex Little White, Lindsey Chasing Horse, Izeek Shockey, Mary Jane White Butterfly, Jaycia Morrison, Dollie Thompson, Lorna White Butterfly, and all his nieces & nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy & Fawn of Lil’ Gails, uncle Bruce Gillette, aunt Linda Gillette, Crista Tail & Family, Jennifer Long & Family, Calvin Shangreaux & Family, TJ Tuttle, Jeremy Trudell, Michael Brought Plenty, Wanagi Oyate, and All Friends & Relatives.
