Nebraska House Members Enthusiastic About New Speaker

Loading

The election of Louisiana Congressman Mike Johnson on Wednesday as the Speaker of the U-S House saw all 220 Republicans finally support a candidate.

Nebraska’s three House members all have praise for the new speaker. The 3rd District’s Adrian Smith says Johnson “has the qualities to bring us together and confront the challenges we face as Americans.”

Smith calls him a “sincere, capable, and humble leader – a man of faith and stand-up guy who has always been thoughtful, honest, and principled.

2nd District Congressman Don Bacon, one of the GOP members who killed the bid for speaker by Ohio’s Jim Jordan, came to the House along with Johnson in 2016 and they have served together on the House Armed Services Committee.

Bacon says Johnson is “a man with a Reagan-like vision for our nation, full of integrity and abounding with decency.”

1st-District Representative Mike Flood, who pushed for a unity pledge of support for whichever speaker candidate was picked as the party’s choice, offers much the same opinion of Johnson.

He calls the new Speaker “a principled, constitutional conservative who will do a fantastic job leading House Republicans, adding that he knows “Speaker Johnson has what it takes to bring the House together around critical priorities

  1. Finally!!!!
Now we have the right people on board and the country can rid itself of the stench of socialism by cutting Medicare, Obamacare and Social Security altogether!
    Get back to work people!
    MAGA!

  2. Ain’t gonna happen. The Maga corporations own the politicians. I would like to see socialist ideology go away but socialism was birthed over 100 years ago by way money is issued and controlled.

  3. After the 2008 recession our Congressman Smith told me the recession was cause by the overpaid, middle class blue collar workers that force business owners to leave for foreign countries.
I guess he didn’t know about the Wall Street bankers.
He is a real intelligent guy- once went to Liberty University- Falwell’s corrupt school.
