The 52nd Chadron State College High Plains Band and Choir Festival begins its 2-day run today.
Over 130 of the top high school vocalists and instrumentalists from around the region were selected through recorded auditions for the two days of rehearsals and clinics culminating in a free concert tomorrow at 5:00 in Memorial Hall
CSC Dean of Liberal Arts Dr Jim Margetts says the longevity of the Festival is a testament to the shared vision of its founders and all those who have participated throughout the years.
Margetts says “many participants are following in the footsteps of older siblings, parents, aunts, uncles, and even grandparents who’ve taken part over the years.”
He also says it would have ended long ago without the support of hundreds of individual high school music teachers and their promotion of the values participation exemplifies – hard work, persistence, bravery, and a passion for excellence.
