Aaliyah Shayleigh Rowland was born on October 30, 2012 in Pine Ridge, SD to Alex Rowland, Sr. and Tia Shott. Aaliyah made her journey to the Spirit World on May 30, 2026 in Wounded Knee, SD.
Aaliyah is survived by her parents, Alex Rowland, Sr. and Tia Shott; sisters, Ayesha Shott, Aviana Shott, and Arya Shott; brothers, Alexander Rowland, Jr., Antwan Shott, and Adonis Shott; maternal grandmother, Alice Sun Bear; aunts, Ginger Good Lance, Dana Good Lance, and Jennifer Rowland; uncles, Berdell Shott, Jr., Jason Blindman, and Patrick Rowland, Jr.; great grandparents, Elfreda Wounded Horse, Emma Rowland-Homer, and Kathy and Dave Janis; grandparents, Jennifer Takes War Bonnett-Chase Alone, Cleo LaDeaux, Rowayne Wounded Horse, Jonathan Wounded Horse, Trina Williams, Deborah Hollow Horn, Reginald Hollow Horn, Harold Hollow Horn, Sr., and Brenda Protector; and many beloved family members and friends who will cherish her memory forever.
Aaliyah was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Berdell Shott, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Bernadine Rowland-LaDeaux, Patrick Rowland, Sr., Theresa Medicine & Baptiste LaDeaux, Cleone Ice, and Clarence Rowland; grandparents, Anita Hollow Horn, Bernadine Littleton and Wendell Janis, Jr.; uncles, Jorma Blindman, Brant Good Lance, Rapheal Sun Bear, Greg Rowland, Sr., and two uncles in infancy; aunt, Tara Blindman; and maternal great grandfather, Clement Shott, Sr., Clarence Sun Bear, Florence Crooked Eyes, Hazel Wounded Horse, and Howard Wounded Horse.
