The Chadron High Track and Field team was off to Alliance’s Bulldog Stadium for the Western Conference Invite on Friday. A day to remember unfolded for the Cardinals as they took four event wins with the highlight being sophomore Addie Gruver shattering the schools long jump record, previously her own at 18’ 3.25’ record by nearly eight inches with a jump of 18’ 11” to take long jump by nearly two feet.
Other wins on the day included Gruver in the 100, senior Beau Behrends won the 1600 with a time of 5:52.34 and sophomore Gracie Calkins won the 3200 by a minute 27 seconds with a time of 12:33.09.
On the boys side the top finishes were a a handful of top three finishes by the Cardinals with the top finisher being Reid Griese in long jump with a leap of 20′ 9.5″ to get second. Johnathon Hoffman placed third in both the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles with a time of 15.55 in the 110 and a 42.62 in the 300.
As a team the Cardinals girls came home in third place while the boys were fifth.
