Exploring Local Interest in Forming a Prescribed Burn Association (PBA)
February 25 th , 2026 / 9:00 AM–3:00 PM (MST)
Chadron Country Kitchen / 1250 W 10th St, Chadron, NE 69337

The Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition is hosting an exploratory meeting on February 25 th to discuss interest in creating a Pine Ridge Burn Association.

Prescribed fire is a safe, sciencebased tool that protects Nebraska’s grasslands, supports livestock production, and reduces longterm wildfire risk. When applied under controlled conditions, it restores the natural processes that have shaped western Nebraska’s rangelands for generations.

Key Benefits of Prescribed Fire
 Controls Eastern Redcedar and Woody Encroachment
 Improves Forage Quality and Grazing Productivity
 Reduces Wildfire Risk
 Restores Native Grassland Ecosystems

Prescribed Burn Associations (PBAs) matter because they solve the biggest barriers that keep landowners from using prescribed fire safely and confidently.

Prescribed fire is one of the most powerful tools we have to protect Nebraska’s grasslands. When landowners work together, we can stop cedar encroachment, reduce wildfire risk, and keep our rangelands productive for future generations.

Lunch will be provided by the Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition.

While there is no cost to attend the event, registration is preferred to provide an accurate lunch count.
