3rd-District Republican Congressman Adrian Smith of Gering has filed for re-election to a 10th term. The 3rd District covers 80 of Nebraska 93 counties and touches all 6 states that abut Nebraska.
In announcing his Monday filing, Smith laid out his conservative credentials, saying he’ll continue to fight for innocent life and oppose taxpayer funded abortion, support the 2nd Amendment and oppose restrictions on law-abiding gun owners, and promote fiscal responsibility and accountability while opposing runaway federal spending.”
A member of the House Ways and Means Committee and Chairman of its Subcommittee on Trade. Smith also said “securing our borders and restoring fiscal sanity” are among his highest priorities along with restoring a pro-growth economy.
Smith said the Biden administration has done “just the opposite by driving up inflation, weakening America’s standing on the world stage, imposing new costly regulatory burdens, and prioritizing a woke agenda driven by liberal extremists.”
Smith served on the Gering City Council and in the Nebraska legislature before being elected to Congress. He was in his 4th term when he met and married his wife Andrea. They live in Gering along with the two children.
