      The Air Force says 3 airmen were injured Wednesday morning when their helicopter made a hard landing at the Cheyenne Regional Airport near the Wyoming Air National Guard hangar.Â
      F-E Warren Air Force Base and 90th Missile Wing commander Colonel Johnny Galbert says the UH-1N Huey from the 37th Helicopter Squadron was conducting routine training when the hard landing occurred around 10:30.Â
     A witness, Chad Brannaman, told the Cowboy State Daily that while driving by the airport, he watched as the helicopter took a hard-banked turn at about 100 feet off the ground, then seemed to lose its balance and start heading toward the ground.
    Brannaman told the paper that trees kept him from seeing the actual impact with the ground, and when he could see the spot again, the helicopter was on the ground upside down.
     Three crew members were taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for evaluation, then released. Colonel Galbert says everyone is thankful there were no major injuries.
     Galbert adds that he would like to personally thank the first responders from the Wyoming Air National Guard and American Medical Response ambulance for their quick arrival and work to ensure everyone remained safe.Â
      The National Guard fire department was the first on the scene, followed by two fire trucks from Warren and a command unit from the 90th Missile Wing.
      Galbert says the Air Force began an Interim Safety Board immediately after the crash to gather the facts.
      A full board will then be convened to determine the cause of the crash and recommend any measures needed to prevent similar mishaps in the future.Â
