An Alliance man has come forward as the winner of the $50,000 Nebraska Pick 5 drawing last week. Richard Eichhorn purchased his winning ticket for the April 10 drawing at Nick’s Gas & Liquor in Alliance.
Eichorn says he plays every day, week after week, but had never won the jackpot before this – only a few $450 prizes for matching 4 of the 5 numbers.
Nebraska Pick 5 has nightly drawings and starts with a $50,000 jackpot that grows by $4,000 each drawing without a winner. Eichorn was the second consecutive winner, bringing him the smallest possible jackpot.
Accompanied by his wife Pat, they went to Nebraska Lottery headquarters in Lincoln to collect their winnings and said they’re thinking they might take a cruise
Eichorn said while they’ve been on cruises around the world, there’s still a lot to see out there. He also said he’s going to keep playing Pick 5 and going to win “even bigger next time. Maybe after another cruise.”
Nebraska Pick 5 is the state’s unique Lottery game with tickets sold only in Nebraska and all proceeds staying in the state.
The odds of winning are 1 in 501,942 while the overall odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 8.
